Alvin is a full-bred Nubian wether. He is my daughter’s favorite goat and lives a life of leisure as a pet. We are trying to teach him to pull a goat cart but his stubborn personality makes him a challenging student. He is Sparkle’s son and April’s brother.

As it sometimes happens, Bambita was rejected by her mother, Bambi, when she was born last winter. We had to bottle-feed her and she has become more like a dog in her traits than a goat. She will even jump on you to get treats! Since she was bottle-fed, she is small, but very sweet. At the county fair last year she was reserve champion, despite her size.
Bambi is a pretty spotted white and brown Nubian. She has big chocolate brown eyes like a deer, hence the name Bambi. The first time she kidded she had twins and refused to let Bambita nurse. We’re hoping she proves a better mother the second time around.
Our most productive milker, Bonita is easygoing and friendly. Unfortunately, she has airplane ears (not a Nubian trait) so she has never done well at the fair. But with her spotted black and white coat, we think she is beautiful!
Mandy is a Nubian/Boer cross who produces stocky, strong kids. She is a very patient milker and will produce milk for 8-10 months. Mandy is a creamy white, but when she is trimmed brown patches appear on her flanks.
On February 22, 2010 Mandy had kids! She had 3; 2 boys, 1 girl. The girl is grayish brown with a black streak down her back. The boys are white and
white with black spots. We named them George, Washington, and Martha in honor of George Washington’s birthday.

Miss Sparkle (Sparkle for short) was given to us when my friend Nicole was in a car accident and could not care for her. We have never milked such a kicker and jumper! When we finished with our precious half bucket of milk, we would be covered in milk from head to toe. She is a much, much better milker now! Sparkle is also a bit of a Houdini; opening barn doors and sneaking into the feed area every chance she gets.
Rosa
Rosa is the grand-daughter of Cocoa, one of our original does, so you might call her the reigning barn princess. She is part Nubian and part Toggenberg which gives her the distinct facial stripes. She is mild-mannered and a very patient milker. She has always had triplets and is a fantastic mother.

When we bring April to the fair we always get several offers to sell her because of her beautiful spotted coat. The spotted Nubian is a strain that has all but disappeared, so goats like April and Bonita are in high demand. April is due to have kids in a few days so we are keeping a close eye on her.

Snow is the current matriarch of the herd; a Saanen goat, and previously our most productive milker. At 10 years old, she is past kid-bearing age and so enjoys her retirement leading the herd to new pasture, eating more than her share of grain, and sharing her friendly and curious personality with anyone who stops by.

Clara Belle, like Sparkle, was given to us by my friend Nicole as a kid. Clara Belle is shy and timid, but she can get her foot in the milking bucket faster than you can believe. She will behave only as long as the feed lasts! She is an excellent, attentive mother who doesn’t mind if you play with her kids.
Cappuccino
Cappuccino and her twin Latte were Sparkle’s twin kids last winter. Cappuccino is a light brown with a splash of white on her flanks. She is intelligent, curious, and very motivated by grain.
